Korennova Elena
Immersed in the art scenes of New York and Europe during the past 10 years, Elena Korennova has not given up either her style or taste, reproducing on the canvas the atmosphere of love and eroticism. Over the years, her work developed a new artistic perception – irony and self-irony, which has played an integral part in Russian art, adding a subtle shade of melancholy to the artist's enjoyment of the outward world, which can escape but is desired to be preserved forever.
"Once Again About Love" is a pictures que triptych. There are magnolia flowers in the first work, a pet subject of the artist. The second piece of a larger size is made by Elena's husband, Alexander Petrov, a famous artist, and presents his wife's portrait against the canvas with paints while making her first work. In the third piece which is bigger than the first two ones, we see the reflection of the process and the participants - the flowers, husband and the artist herself. Subjects and objects of the art work become reversible, and the production of meanings: denotatum and designatum, wholly depends on the artist's will, who realizes very well her control and power over everything happening.
