This issue introduces to the viewers one of the most influential conceptualist artists of the world – Dennis OPPENHEIM, an American classic of contemporary art.

He is considered to be a leader of the Land-Art movement, which appeared in the USA in the late 60s and, unfortunately, is almost unknown to the Russian Viewers. His early works presented large-scale projects on location, such as figure plantings in the open field fixed in photographs. Now these photographs have been included practically in all textbooks on contemporary art.

Recently the artist has been mainly involved in the so-called "Public Art" development. According to him, this art has got a huge potential, i.e. it is free from "the museums" grip and art establishment in general.

The work of art is not a thing to look at, as everyone used to see it, this is the means to see something, Dennis Oppenheim states.
